Central United ChurchFonds consists of material pertaining to the military experience of brothers Frederick and Charles Knights during WWI. Material is divided into 3 series: Letters, Photographs, Clippings.
Knights, Charles RichardFonds consists of trench maps of various scales that were used in the operations of the 19th Battalion during their time at the front. Also includes a set of field message books with carbons intact that record Gidley's wartime communications with other officers. Materials were originally created and gathered by Gidley in his capacity as commanding officer of the 19th Battalion, B Company. Fonds has been divided into three series: Maps, Field Notebooks, and Miscellaneous.
Henderson, Charles ArnoldFonds consists of one panoramic photograph of Vimy Ridge on linen backing. Photograph appears to be intelligence gathered in advance of the battle April, 1917. Also includes one card detailing a Christmas dinner for the Canadian Corps Survey Section, 1918. Card is signed by attendees. Both items were likely produced or co-produced by Loney.
Loney, Charles WilliamFonds consists of various materials and documents pertaining to Crosse’s military career, as well as his pre and postwar activities, such as his leadership role in the Boy Scouts and his active participation as a member of the Anglican Church. The majority of the fonds consists of personal and professional correspondence (60%), whereas the rest of the collection predominately consists of newspaper clippings (scrap book), loose notes, and miscellaneous personal documents. The fonds also contains a single colour slide.
Crosse, ClaudeConsists of 29 loose pages of typescript poetry with holograph annotations. Poetry is autobiographical and relates to Strong's WWI experiences. Date of creation is presumed to be during the war; written on first sheet of collected poems: "written in France 1917"
Strong, Condren MauriceConsists predominantly of letters written by two soldiers to members of the Coppock family household in Castor, Alberta during WWI.
Coppock familyFonds consists of diaries kept by Watson during his time as a commanding officer during WWI. Also includes related WWI photographs and ephemera collected and arranged by Watson in scrapbook.
Watson, DavidFonds consists of a single item: a Christmas card sent from France, 1915. Recipient (unidentified) was Harry Woodman's youngest sister.
Woodman, HarryThe fonds consists of black and white photographs that predominantly depict Canadian action during WWI. Captions on the verso of photographs stamped “Canadian Official War Photograph” are likely transcribed from a print index at Library and Archives Canada.
Wheatley, Henry PercivalFonds consists of a three volume transcript of an original diary by Ithel Davies. The diary describes his experiences during World War One as a service member of the British Expeditionary Forces and is notable for its intimate account of the Gallipoli Campaign and the Battle of the Somme. Diary transcriptions have been bound and supplemented by the donor with maps, photocopied photographs, and relevant transcribed correspondence.
Davies, IthelThe fonds consists of manuscripts for books, newspaper columns and radio broadcasts (1974-1985); recorded interview about his life (1981); recording of "This is the House" lectures (1981); and photographs of the Peach family, RCAF, Calgary personalities and views, and southern Alberta (1914-1945). Includes a film and photographs of Second World War bomber training (1943), and some records of his parents and grandfather (1890-1940).
Peach, John Stevley "Jack"Consists of 14 WWI era postcards. Only one contains correspondence. Many of the postcards appear to have been purchased as souvenirs at Eaton's Bookstall in Whitley Camp, UK.
Morris, JamesFonds consists of material related to the experience of James Reid (and to a lesser extent his brother John) while in Canada leading up to WWI, throughout Reid's time of service for the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the war, and then for some years after the war recording Reid's life in Calgary, Alberta.
