Biographical history
Marvin Neil Dunfield was born in September 5th, 1883 in Quyon, Quebec. His family later moved to Manitoba where Dunfield eventually took work as a clerk in a hardware store. In December 1914 he enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Winnipeg serving overseas with the 44th Battalion (Manitoba), the 90th Winnipeg Rifles, and the 11th Battalion. He was wounded at Ypres in June of 1916 and returned to field service that December. He was wounded again at Lens in August of 1917. Never fully recovering from his wounds, Dunfield was discharged in May of 1918 and sent back to Canada on HMHS Llandovery Castle on its last voyage before it was torpedoed in June of 1918. He settled in Meadow Lake, Alberta, and died on July 22nd, 1953.

Material was gathered by Clara Dunfield, sister of Marvin Dunfield, and passed along to her grandson, the donor.
