Biographical history
Charles Read Pearce, 1896-1986, was born in England and served in the British Army in the First World War. In 1919 he and his wife, Elsie, came to Calgary where he worked as a reporter and bookkeeper. In 1925 he joined the board of William Aberhart's congregation and soon after became a board member of the Calgary Prophetic Bible Institute.
After Aberhart was elected Premier of Alberta, Pearce became superintendent of the Radio Sunday School Mission as well as maintaining his ties with the Bible Institute. In 1942 he accepted a position with Alberta's provincial marketing board in Calgary (later in Edmonton), but remained active in the radio mission as well as in the production of the Prophetic Voice Magazine. He and Elsie retired to Vancouver.
