These land examination reports were prepared by CPR's Land Inspectors, and include the following elements (not necessarily all of them in any single report), which helped the railway determine the value of the land, and what price they should charge for it: average grade; nearest railway station; elevators; nationality of nearest settlers; type of farming in district; nearest creamery, post office, school, church; average rainfall; area of arable land; soil type; timber cover; surface water and well depth; grass and hay cover; stone and coal in district; improvements made; and general remarks.

Desk and Derrick Club of CalgaryCollection consists of submissions made by various companies in the oil industry to the Alberta Petroleum and Natural Gas Conservation Board and the National Energy Board relating to the exportation of natural gas and crude oil from Alberta to Eastern Canada and the United States via proposed pipelines. Includes geological and engineering data, projections of Canadian market requirements, reserve estimates, financial projections, facility descriptions, etc. Companies making submissions include among others Trans-Canada Pipe Lines Ltd., Westcoast Transmission Co. Ltd., Alberta and Southern Gas Co. Ltd. and Canadian-Montana Pipe Line Co. Collection also includes several submissions to the Royal Commission on Energy in 1958.
