Biographical history
Percival J. Timms, 1886-1969, was born in England. He came to Calgary in 1910. He ran the Central Meat Market, 1911-1912, and the Mission Bridge Feed Store, 1913-1926, before forming a brokerage firm with Harry M. Mack in 1927. Mack and Timms Ltd. operated until 1943. In the 1930s, Timms became involved in the oil industry. He was manager, and later president, of Highwood-Sarcee Oils Ltd. He was also involved with Highwood Northern Oils and many other oil companies. He was active in many organizations. He founded the St. John's Cricket Club, was involved with the Calgary and District Cricket League, was president of the Calgary Horticultural Society for many years, and was secretary of the Alberta Provincial Poultry Association and the Alberta Provincial Checker Association. He was married to Alice Cartwright, and had one son, Richard.

The fonds consists of correspondence, financial records, reports and share certificates pertaining to his business ventures; constitutions, minutes, correspondence, programs and newspaper clippings of organizations in which he was active; and photographs and postcards of family, business and organizational activities. Includes some Cartwright family papers.
