The Series consists of audio-visual records that complement the records found in other Series. The records range from medical research slides created by Dr. Hatfield during his post-graduate training at the University of Minnesota; sound recordings of Dr. Hatfield's sermons, speeches, presentations, and lectures that he gave to academic, secular, and religious groups; videos relating to the social, medical, and ethical issues arising from the Royal Commission on New Reproductive Technologies; sound recordings from the United Church Men's Conferences and Councils, at many of which Dr. Hatfield gave presentations; and slides from presentations Dr. Hatfield gave on a variety of issues including sex education, ethics consultation services, palliative care, medicare, and death and dying.

File consists of photographs of a variety of topics for Foothills Hospital's "Catalyst" magazine. Views include medical staff with Parkinson's Disease patients; Dr. Beck Hanson with drug testing samples; a member of the Ethics Commission reading a book on Bioethics; and close-up views of small white pills on a black surface.
The Sub-series consists of records from committees on which Dr. Hatfield served. These include the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta's Committee on Bioethics, of which Dr. Hatfield was a member, and the Alberta Medical Association's Committee on Ethics, of which Dr. Hatfield was the Chair from 1980-1990. Other records reflect Dr. Hatfield's attendance at conferences and his participation in various projects and reports, including the report of the Advisory Committee on the Utilization of Medical Services, his interest in Physicians for Social Responsibility, and the creation of a Provincial Healthcare Ethics Network.

The Sub-series consists of notes, reference materials, and final prepared speeches and presentations given by Dr. Hatfield on various subjects, including ethics, palliative care, sex education, balanced billing, and social issues including alcoholism and suicide. The Sub-series also includes page proofs, transcripts, and copies of the two books coauthored in the mid-1980's by Dr Bruce Hatfield and his brother Dr. Bob Hatfield: 'Matters of Life and Death', and 'Treat Me Right'.
- The Sub-series consists of records reflecting Dr. Hatfield's professional activities, including his membership in numerous professional organizations. Dr. Hatfield initiated the formation of the Calgary Academy of Medicine (later known as the Calgary Society of Clinical Investigation and Research), and was active in the Canadian Medical Association, the Canadian Tuberculosis Association, the American Diabetes Association, the Calgary Medical Society, the Alberta Thoracic Association, the Alberta Society of Specialists in Internal Medicine, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and the American Federation for Clinical Research.
- The records include membership information, articles and newsclippings, newsletters, minutes of meetings, correspondence, a retirement poster created by patients and friends celebrating the practice to both Drs. Hatfield, and the Honorary Degree awarded to the Drs. Hatfield in 1995 by the University of Calgary.

The records relate to his many professional activities, including as a founder of the Ethics Consultation Service at the Foothills Hospital, records that express his continuing interest in the advancement of Palliative Care, the agreement between Dr. Bruce Hatfield and his brother Bob that set up their joint medical practice, records collected by Dr. Hatfield on the history of the Faculty of Medicine, his attendance at departmental and committee meetings, and two files of curriculum vitae giving details of his publications, presentations, promotions, and letters announcing his retirement from service and practice in 1994-1995.
The Series consists of newspaper clippings and magazine articles collected by Dr. Hatfield for reference on an extensive series of subjects. The records reflect Dr. Hatfield's interest in the social, medical, and ethical issues of his lifetime, including abortion, birth control and family planning, Aids, death and dying, euthanasia, genetics and genetic manipulation, sexuality and sex education, palliative care, and medicare.
