Biographical history
Ivan Campbell Robison was born in Carman, Manitoba in 1901. He studied arts and law at the University of Manitoba, graduating in 1927. Robison worked for the Retail Credit Company until 1946, when he joined the real estate business. He formed his firm, Ivan C. Robison & Company, in 1949. Robison was a member of the Calgary Real Estate Board, and was its president in 1952. He was also a member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, the City of Calgary Court of Revision, and the McNally Commission.
Robison was an active member of the United Church, as was possibly the first layman to hold the position of Chairman of the Calgary Presbytery. He also participated in the Canadian Bible Society, the Masonic Lodge, the Law Society of Manitoba, and the Ranchmen's Club. Robison lived in Calgary from 1941-1977, after which he moved to London, Ontario to marry his second wife, Ercel Simpson. His first wife, Corinne Saint-Louis, had passed away in 1976. Ercel passed away in 1987 and Robison returned to Calgary. He had three sons.

Scope and content
Collection consists of records created or maintained by Ivan Robison as a member of the Alberta provincial government’s Royal Commission on the Metropolitan Development of Calgary and Edmonton, also known as the McNally Commission. The commission met in Calgary from late 1954 to 1955 and produced a final report in 1956. Other members of the commission were George Fred McNally (Chairman), G.M. Blackstock, Charles P. Hayes, Percy G. Davies, H.B. Mayo (Consulting Economist), and William McGruther (Secretary). The collection consists of all 47 volumes of proceedings, the exhibits, briefs to the commission, and the final report. Also included are Robison’s notes and numerous related reports, including:
