Ivan Campbell Robison was born in Carman, Manitoba in 1901. He studied arts and law at the University of Manitoba, graduating in 1927. Robison worked for the Retail Credit Company until 1946, when he joined the real estate business. He formed his firm, Ivan C. Robison & Company, in 1949. He was also a member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, the City of Calgary Court of Revision, and the McNally Commission.

Robison lived in Calgary from 1941-1977, after which he moved to London, Ontario to marry his second wife, Ercel Simpson. His first wife, Corinne Saint-Louis, had passed away in 1976. Ercel passed away in 1987 and Robison returned to Calgary. He had three sons.
