            The Series consists of audio-visual records that complement the records found in other Series. The records range from medical research slides created by Dr. Hatfield during his post-graduate training at the University of Minnesota; sound recordings of Dr. Hatfield's sermons, speeches, presentations, and lectures that he gave to academic, secular, and religious groups; videos relating to the social, medical, and ethical issues arising from the Royal Commission on New Reproductive Technologies; sound recordings from the United Church Men's Conferences and Councils, at many of which Dr. Hatfield gave presentations; and slides from presentations Dr. Hatfield gave on a variety of issues including sex education, ethics consultation services, palliative care, medicare, and death and dying.

            The Sub-series consists of notes, reference materials, and final prepared speeches and presentations given by Dr. Hatfield on various subjects, including ethics, palliative care, sex education, balanced billing, and social issues including alcoholism and suicide. The Sub-series also includes page proofs, transcripts, and copies of the two books coauthored in the mid-1980's by Dr Bruce Hatfield and his brother Dr. Bob Hatfield: 'Matters of Life and Death', and 'Treat Me Right'.

            The Series consists of newspaper clippings and magazine articles collected by Dr. Hatfield for reference on an extensive series of subjects. The records reflect Dr. Hatfield's interest in the social, medical, and ethical issues of his lifetime, including abortion, birth control and family planning, Aids, death and dying, euthanasia, genetics and genetic manipulation, sexuality and sex education, palliative care, and medicare.
