Series consists of the drawings and sketches of Frederick William Beechey (1796-1856), an English naval officer, artist, explorer, hydrographer and writer. In 1819-20 he served under W.E. Parry in the Hecla on a voyage of discovery to the eastern Arctic, spending the winter in Winter Harbour, Melville Island, where he made scientific observations and sketches of the terrain.
