History
Herbert Marshall Welch, 1888-1951, was born in Ashton-under-Line, Lancashire, England and emigrated to Canada in 1906. He joined a friend, John Ardern, in Millarville, Alberta and worked on various ranches. He also carried the mail for a period of time between Calgary and Millarville. About 1909 he moved to Calgary and in 1912 married Margaret, 1889-1975. He served in the First World War and on his return became an x-ray technician at the Colonel Belcher Hospital in Calgary where he worked for thirty years. He and his wife had three children, Nora (Law), Marshall T., and John Leonard.
