History
Joseph Standish, 1877-1964, was born in Bruce County, Ontario and came to the Priddis, Alberta area with his parents in 1886. He started working as a ranch hand in 1891. He worked for John Ware, 1898-1900, for Eugene Carey, 1902-1903, and for his brother, Chris, 1903-1906. In 1909 he married Sarah Dickinson, who was originally from Yorkshire, England. They had six children, Nelson, Edna (Jones), Bryce, Lloyd, Irving and Grant. Joseph established the Glenwillow dairy farm at Priddis ca. 1905 and ran it until his retirement ca. 1946. He was a founder of the Priddis and Millarville Agricultural Society and active in the Southern Alberta Dairy Pool.
