      James Wesley Stambaugh, 1888-1970, was born in Michigan, USA. His family came to the Bruce, Alberta area to homestead in 1905. Stambaugh married Amey E. Lake in 1911 and they had five children. He farmed for a living and was very active in local and provincial politics. He was a member of the Bruce School Board, the Viking Hospital Board and the Alberta Liberal Association. He sat as a Liberal in the Senate, 1949-1965. On his retirement, he moved to Victoria, British Columbia.
