Biographical history
Sidney A. Barron, 1917-2006, was born in Toronto and raised in Victoria. In 1959 he began his career as an editorial cartoonist with the Victoria Times. He subsequently worked as the editorial cartoonist for the Toronto Star, 1961-1974, and the Albertan, 1964-1969. His cartoons are noted for satirizing both the controverial and the commonplace. He moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1962, and later returned to Victoria. He and his wife, Jessamine, retired to Coombs, British Columbia.
