Biographical history
Jane Greenwood, 1917-1997, was born in Calgary, Alberta, and raised on a farm at Lousana. As a girl she was active in the Lousana branch of the Canadian Girls in Training (CGIT), which her mother had organized in 1934. She attended Henderson's Business College in Calgary, afer which she worked for the Central Alberta Dairy Pool in Alix for several years. On her return to Calgary she worked for a short time for the United Grain Growers, and then in the insurance business for 40 years. In 1949 she married Wiley Vernon Bentley, 1924-?. They had no children. She was very active in Central United Church as a member of the choir and the United Church Women (UCW). She sang in the Choral Belles women's choir as well. Both she and Vern were active member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. She loved to collect newspaper clippings about people she knew, places she worked and events she attended.

The fonds consists of Jane's work memorabilia (1936-1985) about the Central Alberta Dairy Pool, United Grain Growers, American Fore Insurance and Continental Insurance; Central United Church bulletins (church calendars), choir members lists, and UCW records (1934-1986); various records about her activities in CGIT, Choral Belles and Scottish Rite (1933-1990); programs and newspaper reviews of concerts and cultural events she attended in Calgary (1939-1987); Vern's high school and war service documents; and personal memorabilia including gift tags, birthday cards, and paper party hats.
