Content and structure area

Scope and content

The fonds consists of an essay, "The Oblates of Mary Immaculate in the South of Alberta". It recounts the history of the Catholic Diocese of Calgary, in particular, the Bow Valley region from Banff to Cochrane. [The manuscript was previously attributed to "Father A. Promis" and indexed as such. Inquiries with the Oblate Fathers Archives and Diocese of Calgary Archives indicated that there was no such person. The attribution may have been derived from an annotation, "a promis" meaning "as promised" on the original manuscript.]
