He married Violet North, ?-1961, in 1902, and they had five children. The family moved to Windermere in 1910. H.B. became a well-known Windermere personality and resided there until the mid-1950s when he moved to Victoria.

His son, Harry Edmind Richardson, 1902- , worked as a labourer on the Banff-Windermere Highway, 1920-1922. He helped build electric power lines in southern Alberta, 1927-1928. He married Dorothy Haynes, ?-1984, in 1928 and they had two daughters. He worked for the City of Calgary Electric Light Department, 1929-1932. The family returned to Windermere during the Depression and H.E. again worked on the Banff-Windermere Highway. From 1935 to 1942 he was employed by the West Kootenay Light and Power Company.
