Biographical history

George William Harold Millican, 1896-1982, was born in Galt, Ontario, came to Fort Macleod, Alberta in 1904, and moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1906. He joined the 103rd Militia Regiment in 1913 and received a commission in 1914 with the 89th Battalion. He served overseas and at the Castle Mountain Internment camp. He was involved with the militia for most of his life. He practiced law for many years, receiving his KC in 1945. He married Jacqueline Koopman, ?-1934, in 1926 and they had two children, Anne (Walsh) and Harold S., 1928-2010. He remarried twice, to Lila Louise, ?-1952, and to Lois Blanche, ?-1981.

The fonds consists of a transcript of an interview about his life (1971); photographs of Calgary events, personalities, and post offices; and photographs of military units and Castle Mountain Internment camp. Includes address given on decoration day (1936) and program (1969).
