History

Roy Fowler, 1902-1975, was born on a farm along the Highwood River southeast of Aldersyde, Alberta. He farmed and ranched in the Gladys Ridge district near Aldersyde. In 1958 he became the first warden of Steveville (later Dinosaur) Provincial Park and he remained in that position until his retirement in 1965. He and his wife, Loretta Gladys "Rita" Gehman, 1904-1990, shared an interest in history and archaeology. He was a member of the Archaeological Society of Alberta and a director of the Alberta Historical Society. The Fowlers had four children, Leroy Claire, Marvin Gehman, Ella Louise (Conners), and Laurus Fraser.
