        History

In 1940 forty communities established the Federation of Calgary Communities in Calgary, Alberta to provide the city with sports programs and assist in community development. The federation was reorganized in 1961 and registered under the Societies Act. By 1973 it provided support and educational services to community associatons and took part in civic planning. It has worked closely with the City of Calgary with respect to community development, zoning bylaws and transportation decisions. The sports activities organized by the federation were later assumed by Minor Sports Calgary. In 1990 the FCC represented approximately 100 communities within the City of Calgary.
