Biographical history
Robert Edward “Ed” Wolf, 1922- , was born in Pratt, Kansas, USA. He studied at the University of Washington and earned two Master of Science degrees, in geology and in fisheries biology. He worked in California and Oklahoma as a petroleum geologist and in Alaska as a fisheries biologist. In 1952 he moved to Calgary, Alberta, where he worked for Amerada Petroleum, Dome Petroleum, and Woodley Petroleum. Around 1969 he started his own business, Canada Geothermal, and around 1976 he started Stone Petroleums Ltd. Wolf was actively involved in political causes, particularly environmental, aboriginal, and civil liberties issues. He was a founding member of the Unitarian Church of Calgary, the Alberta Wilderness Association, the Calgary Co-op Memorial Society, and the Calgary Civil Liberties Association, and was a member of the Calgary Knights of the Round Table. He was formerly married to Gladys Joy Gregson, and they had five children, David, Paul, Shelley, Murray, and Catherine.
