Biographical history

Daniel Dancocks was a native of Calgary and a graduate of the University of Alberta. After a career in journalism, Dancocks turned to writing full length works and produced seven, much lauded, books on the subject of Canadian military history including, In Enemy Hands: Canadian Prisoners of War, 1939-45; Sir Arthur Currie: A Biography; Legacy of Valour: the Canadians at Passchendaele; Spearhead to Victory: Canada and the Great War; Gallant Canadians: The Story of the Tenth Canadian Infantry Battalion, 1914-1919; Welcome to Flanders Fields: the First Canadian Battle of the Great War; Ypres, 1915; and The D-Day Dodgers: the Canadian in Italy, 1943-1945 (short-listed for the Alberta Literary Award).
