Biographical history
"The Dance Connection: a journal documenting the Albertan Dancescape" was first published bi-monthly in 1983 by the Alberta Dance Alliance with the founding help of Anne P. Flynn, a professor in the Program of Dance at the University of Calgary. It was a free publication containing feature articles in addition to regular columns on dance and education, children, history, multiculturalism, movement techniques, calendar information, and a review section of performance occurring in Alberta.
In 1989, the publication's name was changed to "Dance Connection" and it progressed from being a provincial newsletter to a magazine with a national focus. "Dance Connection" published critical reviews and documented Canadian concert dance across the country. The publisher changed to Clear Running Water Presentations Society in 1991 and the magazine was printed 5 times per year.
The publication was suspended due to financial concerns after the Volume 13, Number 3 September/October issue.
