Biographical history

Dale Holtslander, 1912- , was born on a farm near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He moved to Alberta at the age of 17, and worked at various occupations, including farming, logging and trapping. He served overseas during the Second World War. After the war he became an accountant, and eventually office manager of a lumber mill. He retired in 1977. He was married twice, to Mary Perry in 1947, and to Elizabeth Lamb in 1986. He had two adopted children, Murray Perry and Allan Perry. He was very interested in the development of school districts in the province, and did a great deal of research into this topic.

The fonds consists of two drafts of an index entitled "School Districts of Alberta: a Listing of All Protestant Public Schools in the Province of Alberta". It includes lists of the school districts in alphabetical order and by school district number, with the dates they were organized and the legal descriptions of their locations. It also includes a list of school districts whose names have changed. There are photocopied photographs of some of the schools.
