Biographical history

Child Find Alberta, Canada's first Child Find agency, was established in Calgary, Alberta in 1983 as the Alberta Friends of Child Find Society. Approximately one year later the name was changed to Child Find Alberta and the group began assisting offices in other provinces in Canada to incorporate and start functioning. While each provincial organization was locally autonomous and independent legally and financially, the network linked under Child Find Canada, established to be the connecting agency and national spokesperson for all member Child Finds in Canada. Child Find Alberta's specific mandate was to provide support to missing children and their families throughout the province, including developing educational programs and best practices. In 2010 Child Find Alberta formed a partnership with Missing Children Society of Canada, who took over the programs in 2014 when Child Find Alberta was disbanded.
