Biographical history

William Gold, 1937-2000, was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Throughout his life he worked in newspapers across Canada, starting with the Ottawa Journal in 1953. He also worked for Southam in England from 1963 to 1965. From 1976 to 1982 Gold was the editor of the Calgary Herald, after which he became public affairs columnist. He retired in 1997. Gold was the recipient of many awards throughout his career including an Honorary Bachelor of Communications in Journalism from Mount Royal College. He and his wife Elaine Peters had two sons, Eric Christopher and Geoffrey Peters.

This fonds was held by the Mount Royal University Archives from approximately 2000 until transferred to Glenbow in 2011.
