Typescript, with holograph revisions, original story written for Bernard Malamud's creative writing class at Harvard University, August 12, 1961, titled Getting growed up and annotated by B. Malamud on title page and throughout; typescript revised version of the story almost exactly like the published version but titled Growing pains; typescript title page for Before sundown; published story in Carolina Quarterly, Fall, 1964, p. 31-41. These pages have been excised and are loose in periodical. Original folder had C. Blaise's holograph annotation "'Getting growed up' Catholic (sic) Quarterly note copy for Malamud's class with his comments-only A in the class".
