Biographical history
Arthur Lloyd, 1893-?, was born in Staffordshire, England. In 1912 he emigrated to Alberta, and worked in the Bassano district on a survey crew for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) and in a lumber camp. After the First World War broke out he served with the British Army and became an officer in the Royal Engineers. He later attended Oxford, visited Calgary again briefly in the late 1930s, and served in the Second World War.

The fonds consists of an essay written by Arthur’s son John Robert Lloyd containing extensive quotes from letters about his work experiences in Alberta; and three copies of photographs of downtown Calgary in the late 1930s.
