      History

      Edward Francis Wilson, 1844-1915, came to Canada in 1868 and was a missionary to the Indians in the Diocese of Algoma in Ontario. He also established the Washakada School in Elkhorn, Manitoba. In 1893 he moved to Saltspring Island, British Columbia where he served until 1911. His son, Archibald Edward Wilson, was principal of the Washakada School for many years.
