Biographical history
William Lyle Haney, 1897-1919, came from Talbot, Alberta and served in First World War as a signaller with the Canadian Reserve Artillery. He was killed on March 5, 1919 at Kinmel Park Camp, Rhyl, North Wales during a riot over camp conditions and delays in Canadian troop repatriation.

The fonds consists of William's medical case sheet, coroner's certificate and report, and photograph of his grave and two others killed during the riots (ca. 1980). Includes list of other Canadian soliders who died at the camp (compiled ca. 1978), legal papers from the inquest (1919), newsclippings (1919) and articles about the riots (1978-1981).
