Claudia Margaret Ellen Gardiner, 1907- 2000, was born on the Blood reserve in southern Alberta, the daughter of Claude and Alice Gardiner. She was educated at Bishop Bethune College in Oshawa, Ontario, and Macdonald College in Quebec. She married Clifford Whipple in 1932, and they had five daughters, Mary Elizabeth (Lacerte), Margaret Rose “Peggy” (Bowcott), Barbara Jo-Anne “Bonnie” (Muir), Nicolette Eileen “Nicki” (Edwards), and Henrietta Louise (Wymore).The Whipples ranched near Fort Macleod until 1952 when they moved to Sidney, British Columbia.
