        History

        Frank Wheatley, 1878-1958, was born in England and served in the South African War. He came to Canada early in the century and mined in the Banff area, including operating a coal mine at Anthracite, Alberta from 1926 to 1953. He was active in labour organizations and was president of the Alberta Federation of Labour for thirteen years and vice-president of the Canadian Labour Congress. He and his wife, Alice, 1878-1958, had eight children including Frank Michael, 1901-1971.
