History
Robert Henry Weir, 1882-1943, was born in Cardinal, Ontario. As a young adult he worked in railways but in 1910 he came to Calgary, Alberta to form a real estate and insurance agency, Tavender and Weir. He married Stella Blanch McLean, ?-1970, of Calgary and they had four children, Mary (Layman), 1924-2011, Gwendolyn Beatrice (Thorssen), 1917-2013, Phyllis (Bernez) and Harold. Weir was elected to Calgary city council in 1930 and continued in office until his death. He was active in many Calgary organizations and Grace Presbyterian Church.
