        Hilda Maude McConkey, 1919-2003, was born on her family's farm at Munson, Alberta, the daughter of Howard Hudson McConkey and Florence Margaret Green. She attended Normal School in Calgary and then taught at Bay Coulee and other schools where she specialized in mathematics and science for high school students. McConkey also taught at St. Hilda's School for Girls in Calgary. She completed two years of a BA program at Mount Royal College and completed it at the University of Alberta. After teaching for some years she completed a MSc in Biochemistry at the University of Toronto. For the remainder of her life she was a researcher at Ayerst Laboratories in Montreal and became a director of the company. She married James Cochrane Warwick, ?-2003, in 1959, and they later retired to Ottawa.
