        Jack Ward was born in Calgary, Alberta and in the late 1930s worked at the Banff Springs Hotel. During the Second World War he joined the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve and after training in Halifax, Nova Scotia and St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, served on the HMCS Oakville, 1942-1943, HMCS Naden, 1943, and HMCS Springhill, 1944-1945. He later worked in the Security Department of the Glenbow Museum in Calgary for many years.
