Biographical history
Victor Wilhelm Heydlauff, was born in Waterloo, Jackson County, Michigan and moved to Alberta in 1900 as a cowboy on the Spencer Brothers Ranch. In 1902 or 1903 he settled in the extreme southeastern corner of Alberta near Sage Creek, at township 1-1-W4. He was a pioneer of irrigation use in his district. He was also active as an inventor, and he developed a strain of alfalfa, and also a locking wagon seat that prevented people being thrown.
He married, first, Mabel Amelia Garlough, 1882-1915, and second, Myrtle Richardson, 1889-1975. He had one daughter Katherine Amelia, 1912-1928.
