        History

        Howard Warner Tye, 1883-1974, was born in Haysville, Ontario and graduated in engineering from the University of Toronto in 1908. He began work for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in Alberta in 1902 and resided in Lethbridge, Drumheller, Lacombe, and Edmonton. He retired in 1949 as chief engineer with the Northern Alberta Railway. During the First World War he served overseas with the Winnipeg Grenadiers, and was a founding member of the Alberta Professional Engineers. He and his wife, Ellen, ?-1968, had four children, Madeleine (Pierson), Robert, Bill, and Ruth (McKenzie).
