        George Takeyasu, 1925- , was born in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima, Japan. His family emigrated to British Columbia. He was 16 years old and living in Ruskin, British Columbia, when the Second World War broke out. In 1942 he and his family were "evacuated" to Picture Butte, Alberta to work on the sugar beet farms.
