        History

        Nicholas Taitinger, 1861-1944, was born in France and moved to the USA in 1889. He married Ethel Ray Wright, ?-1917, in Oregon in 1898, and they had six children, Harry, Clarence, Guy, Mae (STewart), Frank and Fred. They homesteaded in the Claresholm area of Alberta in 1905. His barley and wheat won many Canadian and international prizes, and he was known as "Alberta's Grain King". He was an active member of the United Farmers of Alberta (UFA). After Ethel's death, he married Lessa Isaacson in 1924.
