        Jack Jacob Switzer, 1937-2012, was born in Calgary, Alberta, the son of Mendel and Rivka Switzer. He was educated in the city and spent most of his life as a business instructor at SAIT. After retiring he vigorously pursued research into the history of the Jewish community in the Canadian west and published articles in Discovery : Journal of the Jewish Historical Society of Southern Alberta, Alberta History and other journals. He was active in Temple B'nai Tikvah, the Little Synagogue on the Prairie Society, and the Jewish Historical Society of Southern Alberta (editing their journal for many years). He and his wife Shauna had two sons, Ted and Steven.
