Biographical history
Squash Alberta is an association of recognized squash organizations and is the official regulating body for squash in Alberta. It represents the interests of amateur players, who are members through clubs, as well as other non-members. It is one of ten provincial associations which are members of the national sport governing body, the Canadian Squash Racquets Association. Its aim is to promote the development of the sport in Alberta; to foster the game at the competitive level; to cooperate with the CSRA and the United States Squash Racquets Association in establishing uniformity of game rules; to maintain close ties with member clubs in Alberta; and to organize and administer coaching, referreeing and marking clinics.
The association was originally formed from players from the Royal Glenora Club, the Glencoe Club, and later the Currie Club, and the Universities of Alberta and Calgary. It was incorporated in 1967. In the late 1980s, the name was changed to Squash Alberta.
