History
Franklin Keller Spragins, 1914-1978, was born in Natchez, Missssippi, USA and came to southern Alberta in 1942 to look for oil for Carter Oil. He transferred to Imperial Oil in 1949. He married Eleanor "Nell" McGregor of Calgary in 1950, and they had four children, Robert, Dan, Carol and Howard. They lived in Calgary, Regina and Edmonton. In 1965 Frank became president of Syncrude Canada and in 1975 was made chairman of the board. He retired in 1978 and was inducted into the Alberta Business Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame and Canadian Petroleum Hall of Fame in 1997.
