        Eric Stanley Arthur Shore, 1904-1991, was born in Gleichen, Alberta, the son of Milo area farmer, Richard H. Shore and his wife, Louise. He worked for several years as an oil salesman and hardware clerk in Queenstown and Milo. In 1928 he married Edna B. Fletcher, ?-1984, and they had three sons, Peter, Allan and Bruce. An active member of the United Farmers of Alberta (UFA), in 1932 he helped organize the Milo Consumers Cooperative Association store, which was a district member of the UFA Cooperative Association. He managed the store until 1942 when he moved to Calgary to manage the UFA Central Coop store. In 1948 he was appointed manager of the Alberta Cooperative Wholesale Association, the purchasing agent for Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta cooperatives. He resigned in 1951, and in 1952 bought the Bowness Hardware, which he ran until his retirement in 1972.
