Biographical history
Roy Letson Flieger, 1901-2000, was born in Chatham, New Brunswick and he came to Alberta in 1919 with his family, settling at Strathmore. He worked for the mines at Carbon, and on ranches in the Okotoks district. In 1926 Flieger began working for Royalite in Turner Valley and remained there until 1954 when he transferred to the Royalite plant in Kamloops, British Columbia. He also raised quarter horses. Roy married Rose in 1933 and they had five children, Mary-Lynne (Harding), Robert, George, Margaret (Berg), 1934-1994, and Donald, 1949-1992.

The fonds consists of photographs of the Carbon mines, Royalite plant at Turner Valley, Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, and quarter horses; a sound recording of Roy Flieger on "Spirit of the West" radio program; cartoons of office employees in Turner Valley; and calendars.
