Biographical history
Robert Turner, 1861-1951, was born at Currie, Midlothian, Scotland and came to Calgary, Alberta in 1886. In 1887 he homesteaded in the Turner Valley area and married Catherine "Kate" Gardiner Dawson in 1888. In 1901 they purchased the Hadley Ranch from Herbert Church. Soon after they moved to a ranch near Millarville. They retired to British Columbia in 1914 but returned to the ranch in the 1920s. They had one daughter, Joan (Dunford), 1901-?.
