Biographical history
Robert Svare, 1919-1986, was a businessman in Calgary, Alberta, who was particularly active in the petroleum industry. During the Second World War he lived in Banff and worked in tourism. After relocating to Calgary he and his wife Phyllis, ?-1993, started Well Information Services and many other firms. They had no children and donated funds to endow several chairs at the University of Calgary, including the Svare Chair in Health Economics and the Svare Chair in Energy Systems Analysis.
