Biographical history
Robert Hingston, 1907-1994, was born in Battleford, Saskatchewan, and attended school in Landis, Saskatchewan. In 1927 he joined the Royal Bank of Canada, which employed him in several locations in the Prairie Provinces until his retirement in 1967. He was manager of the branch in Devon, Alberta during the 1950s. His wife was Erla Hingston, and they had three children, Corinne, Brenda (Watson), and Roy.

The fonds consists of two publicity photographs of Hingston taking over the managership of the Royal Bank branch in Devon (1950) and an image of an oil well blowout, possibly near Devon; includes a reel of family home movies (1950-1967); and an interview of Robert Hingston recorded by Aubrey Kerr (1989).
