Biographical history
Robert D. Hassan was an American mechanical engineer. He built several cement mills in Ohio, Michigan and possibly Quebec before he was hired in 1906 to build a mill in Exshaw, Alberta for the Western Canada Cement and Coal Company. He and his wife had three daughters, Jennie, Mildred and Mabel (Ashton). He returned to the USA where he was involved in building a plant at Metaline Falls, Washington.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of photographs (taken by Jennie) of the Hassan family, Exshaw townsite and industries, the Banff area and the Edmonton Portland Cement Company plant at Marlboro, Alberta. Includes the program for a banquet held in honour of William Exshaw by the staff of WCC&C (1908).
