        William Edmund "Bill" Richards, 1926-2008, was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and trained as a lawyer. He joined Dome Petroleum in Calgary, Alberta in 1957, rising to be president from 1974 to 1983. Afterwards he was president of the Canadian International Centre of Commerce and W.E. Richards & Associates, a land development firm. He was also President of Comprehensive Medical Intelligence Inc, and Geopetrol International. He served as a director of Rise Healthware Inc, Maxx Petroleum Ltd, Alpetro Resources and Pyramid Petroleum. Richards was Chairman of the Canada-Bangladesh Trade Group and Honorary Consul for Bangladesh in Calgary for twelve years and often visited Asia. He was also active in politics and ran for the Liberal Party in Calgary in 1993. His wife Cathy was president of the Liberal Party in Alberta. He and his first wife Eileen, ?- 1974, had four sons, Fred, Tim, Bill Jr, and Gary, 1953-2008. He later married Iris.
