Biographical history
Rex Arlo Millar, 1891-1967, was born in Colfax, Iowa, USA. He arrived in Calgary in 1902 and was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) Construction Department. He received an architectural degree in 1913. He designed residences, warehouses, bowling alleys, stores, a fire station, and business buildings. He was an employee of Riverside Iron Works and sales manager for Dominion Bridge Company from 1926 to 1946. He then returned to private architectural practice from which he retired in 1966.
He was an honorary member of the Alberta Association of Architects and an associate member of the Engineering Institute of Alberta. He and his wife, Mary, ?-1971, had three daughters, Phylis, ?-1925, Alice, and Florence, 1918-1996.
